Quick Review and Recommendation
After miraculously surviving the injuries he sustained during his last mission Tyler Rake (played by Chris Hemsworth) retires and tries and lives an everyday normal life. (Which is not an easy task for him).
During this time he struggles to find his purpose and reason. But his retirement was cut short when he finally got the answer he was looking for.
He agrees to take on a new mission upon the request of his ex-wife. Asking him to rescue her sister from a maximum security prison, where she and her two kids are being held up.
Needless to say that the operation does not go as smoothly as it is planned (you know it is a 2 hours movie) and I am not complaining it was one cliffhanger after another in this action-packed masterpiece.
- Recommendation
This is one of those rare occasions where the sequel turns out to be better than the original. - The pacing was good, with a little bit of a backstory, and some explanation. Then the action took off.
Overall, this movie is worth your time with it has great action. The plot is average, with great acting.
Extraction 2 Review – Action Sequences
Extraction 2 brings back double the action, it comes back bigger and better. The movie will keep you on the edge of your seat gasping so often.
Sam Hargrave (Director) uses his background in action choreography and his experience as a stuntman to give us an enticing, action-packed, and thrilling movie.
The stunts and the action sequences were visually impressive. Some clips almost feel and look like a video game.
Extraction 2 Behind the Scenes
I can only imagine the hard work that goes into the making of an action movie, where everything has to be precisely measured and calculated while performing and shooting the sequence with perfection.
“There’s a moment when you say to yourself it can’t be done, but instead of backing down, you push yourself forward into the unknown.” This is what Hemsworth had to say about the making of this movie.
Extraction 2 features a lot of breathtaking action scenes
In this Behind the Scene special, we get the Directorial view of (Sam Hargrave) on the major action sections which are the (Prison Break/ the Car Chase and the Train).
This movie had a real helicopter landing on a moving train, where the main goal was to make the action as authentic and truthful as much as possible.
There is a visceral experience of real stunts happening in real-time that you can’t replicate with CG or using a Blue screen. And in the end, it was all worth the risk so viewers can get the full experience.

Sam Hargrave is an American stuntman, actor, director, and stunt coordinator. He has worked with the Russo brothers, as the stunt coordinator for multiple movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he met Chris Hemsworth in 2011 on the set of the first Avengers movie (where he was the stunt double for Captain America).
Extraction (2020) was his debut as a director. And the movie gained significant popularity for its intense action sequences.
