Familiar Wife Review, this is a fantasy and romantic KDrama with its fair share of comedy. The story is about a man (Cha Joo-hyuk) played by (Ji Sung). Who decided to stand beside his colleague when she needed him the most, only to find himself 5 years later trapped in a miserable marriage. With an over-controlling angry wife (Han Ji-min) and two kids to provide for.
One day after a big fight, he finds himself filled with regret over the choices he made and the chances he missed.
Then he has the opportunity to go back in time and alter one minor event. which leads to a different reality where he is a rich man and is married to his college sweetheart.
But fate must have its way, in this new reality Cha Joo-hyuk, and his “Ex” Wife cross paths again. And she is a completely different woman, she is taking good care of herself, she got an education, and is ready for her new job. (Yes you guessed it) she is the new employee at her “Ex” husband’s workplace. and that’s when she meets him for the first time (in this timeline).
And there is where our journey with the characters begins. learning about true love, and what it takes for love to work. And how each part is equally responsible for the success of any relationship.

Yes, it is, this KDrama is amazing. although it falls under fantasy, it feels so relatable and it is filled with so many life lessons.
And although the story is told from a male’s perspective. Yet the show did a good job of representing what women go through, and how it takes team efforts for marriages to work.

I love stories about time travel, which shows how our life is a series of connected details. and how changing one minor detail could change your entire life. Time travel stories also focus on appreciating the small things and not taking anything for granted.
When Cha Joo-hyuk realized that he was mistaken
This is the best part of this drama. he thought that he was the victim and his wife is a crazy woman with anger issues. only to discover that he was the one who limited, neglected, and throws all responsibilities on her. and made her miserable! while he went on living his life so selfishly.
Proof of that was how much she changes once he was out of her life. she became this successful woman with a very lovable personality. While his life stayed the same (relatively).
And that was the moment he learned his lesson.
Kind of a Unique Ending
Although time travel stories have a standard cliché ending, where the traveler learns that he was mistaken. and what he dreamed of was not what he actually wanted. Then wishes to go black to how things were.
Familiar Wife has that but with a satisfying twist. you’ll understand what I’m talking about once you get to that part.
