Hunter X Hunter’s original anime ended in 2001. After a break of over 10 years, HunterXHunter returned in 2011 with Madhouse’s reboot. Now the question remains is Hunter x Hunter worth watching?

Before getting into if Hunter x Hunter is worth watching let’s first have a Quick Review:

Hunter x Hunter Review

Hunter X Hunter tells the story of Gon Freecss, and his goal is to find his father Ging, a famous hunter. To do so, Gon must become a hunter himself and so starts his journey to becoming a great hunter.

Hunter X Hunter anime has seven arcs:

• Hunter exam.
• Zoldyck family.
• Heavens arena.
• Yorknew city.
• Greed island.
• Chimera ant.
• Chairman election arc.

Is Hunter x Hunter worth watching

I want to say no, but the 12-year-old me won’t let me.

See my generation grow up with the characters of the original Hunter in 1999. and it was one of my favorite childhood shows, (I had the biggest crush on Killua).

So when Hunter X Hunter had a remake (Available on Netflix), I had to re-watch it again, and I regret it.

They say don’t meet your heroes, I would Add don’t re-watch your childhood shows.

So is Hunter x Hunter worth watching?

Honestly, No. other than nostalgia the anime has nothing going for it!

It makes no sense.
there isn’t a big goal or target to tie the events together.
The show does not give an identity to its characters and the powers they have, a lot of characters feel out of place.

So, is Hunter x Hunter Worth Watching, Final answer

If you haven’t watched the original. and you are looking for something good to watch, keep looking Hunter x hunter is not it.

If you have watched the original and want to watch the re-make,
Take my advice and don’t do it, hold on to your memories and move on.
because at first, you would enjoy it. Then you would think about it with your adult brain and it will be ruined.

Reasons why Hunter x Hunter sucks

Watching the anime I have to say it is shallow and it comes across as childish and juvenile. with no regard for common sense whatsoever (Common Anime sense, to be clear), and that’s why Hunter x Hunter sucks.

The Age of the main characters:

Gon and Killua were about 12 years old when they took the hunters exams. a very dangerous, life-threatening exam (While most of the others are older men and women)!

Not only that, they were better than most of the participants, I mean that made sense when I was 12. Now it does not.

The Sudden Existence of Nanika, and her abilities

I mean we all know that the main character can’t die in the middle of the anime, but that was a bit too much. And a bit too easy. It made no sense!

Fatherhood, the lack thereof

The main focus of Hunter x Hunter is Gon’s search for his father.

Yet there is not any emotional background to support their father-son relationship. Even their meeting felt dull and pointless.

There is no real moral code

If other characters are doing bad things, they are evil. If the main character does the same, then it is ok.

Killua should have been the main character

Now that is a remake I would watch, there is no denying that Killua stole the show, he is a fan favorite. The writers made him way more interesting and more complex than Gon.
